Why Guru Randhawa said an ‘instant yes’ to this song

Guru Randhawa might as well start a coaching class on creating record-breaking dance anthems, but if his latest single (and the accompanying video) are anything to go by, he handles heartbreak singles just as well.

In a stark departure from his rather colourful palette, Guru goes Black. Composed by Savvy Singh and penned by Bunty Bains, the video for Guru’s latest single has been directed by Harry Singh and Preet Singh.

The video charts his rise to fame and glory and how it means nothing without his love (played by Krishna Mukherjee).

Says Guru, “It was an instant yes to this song and I am glad to be part of it. We had a great time shooting it in my homeland, Punjab. We’ve tried something different this time and I hope my supporters and fans enjoy this.”

Director Preet Singh says, “I have directed a sad song for the first time. Before this, I have only directed peppy numbers. The last track we worked on was Gur Nalo Ishq by Yo Yo Honey Singh.”

He adds, “We were initially apprehensive about how Guru’s fans would react to it, but Guru didn’t think twice before taking up the song.”

Says Bunty, “The song depicts the journey and life of an artist and how he becomes a superstar, about all he has achieved in life and the ones he would always miss. Guru was the perfect choice for the song and interestingly, he liked the song when he heard it for the first time.”
