Here are 3 things you need to know
Camila Cabello revealed quite a bit about her sophomore album in a recent interview with Variety magazine. Here’s what you need to know…
LOVE DRIVES IT
No surprises here, clearly. The Señorita hitmaker shares with the magazine that while her debut self-titled album was about “crushes from afar”, with an indulgence for the past and the future, this one will be more personal and in the now. She opened up to Variety about the development of the second album “I fell in love and just opened up. Everything was written in [the] present moment.” The breakup with her ex, Matthew Hussey might be recent, but this album isn’t about him. Anybody with eyes has seen her and Shawn Mendes indulge in PDA everywhere. So quite likely, she just opened up about being in love with Shawn, as she also goes on to reveal that the song was close to eight months in the making.
IT’S BETTER THAN THE FIRST
Here’s the thing, if you don’t grow as an artist, all the success in the world will mean nothing. Albums have shelf lives. At some point, you’re going to have to think about your next album. To see Camila saying, “As a songwriter, I grew a lot. It’s a million times better than my first album” is heartening and shows off her self-confidence.
BIT OF OLD, BIT OF NEW
Cabello says her songwriting has evolved and that is apparent in the fact that she is working with new producers as well as her frequent collaborators. The interview reveals that she’s worked with such hitmakers as Amy Allen, the Monsters & Strangerz, Mattman & Robin, Ali Tamposi as well as Havana producer Frank Dukes.>
