Watch M.I.A. like never before

M.I.A. isn’t your ordinary pop artist. This is why…

Maya Arulpragasam, famously known as British-Sri Lankan musician M.I.A., isn’t your ordinary pop artist. And even though you must have heard this line various times, we aren’t bluffing. No, not at all. She has a story of struggle, blood and tears.

With a background full of struggle, survival and strength, Maya has paved her own way to success in the music industry. She wished to share her story with the world in her highly-awaited documentary, MATANGI / MAYA / M.I.A.

In the newly released trailer, she unravels her story of being in the middle of a war zone, a refugee. She talks about how music gave her a voice and the ability to speak for all of those who can’t.

This documentary has been directed by Stephen Loveridge and scored by Paul Hicks and Dhani Harrison. It and was premiered at the Film Festival, where it won. It is set to hit U.K. theatres on September 21, and U.S. theatres September 28.
