The anthemic Kar Har Maidaan is just the rouser you need

The video for the latest Sanju single, ‘Kar Har Maidaan Fateh’ is out and it shows Sanjay Dutt at some of the lowest phases in his life. It shows a persistent battle against his demons and how each hard-won battle was won with sheer resolve.

The video opens with Ranbir Kapoor (as Sanju) in his father Sunil Dutt’s (played by Paresh Rawal) arms breaking down and saying he wants to get better.

Cut to scenes of Dutt Jr at rehab and on the streets begging, but returning again and again to paths of glory after every ebb in his life.

The Vikram Montrose (it’s his Bollywood debut) composition features lyrics by Shekhar “Astitwa”. The opening lines (sung by Sukhwinder Singh) are powerful… ‘Break your shackles and make them a sword’. Sukhwinder surges on with the next few motivational lines. ‘Your wings might hurt, but you can soar if you choose to be brave’. More comes by way of Shreya Ghoshal’s lines delivered with the required heft. ‘Every defeat, every broken sword will eventually guide you to victory’. Vocals aside, enjoy the guitar solo (Ishaan Das) and drums throughout (Zorran Mendonsa).

Struggles make the man, but it is the fateh (victory) everyone sees. The Kar Har Maidan Fateh video doesn’t just chart the timeline of those struggles but offers a mantra to get the better of them.

Anthemic, motivational and with one heck of a closer, Kar Har Maidan Fateh is just the rouser you need.
