Super 30’s Jugraafiya has drama, but there’s THIS unshakeable feeling…

The first Super 30 single leaves you with mixed emotions
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Jugraafiya is the first single off the Super 30 OST.
- The video features the lead pair Hrithik Roshan and Mrunal Thakur.
- Udit Narayan and Shreya Ghoshal sing for the two actors to music scored by composer duo Ajay-Atul and lyrics penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
- Jugraafiya might well be translated as ‘geography’.
The opening riffs of Jugraafia sound uncannily like the hook of the Dhadak title track. Udit Narayan’s voice serves up nostalgia as we get treated to his voice after quite a while. Shreya’s portions are more nuanced as she gets to change pace and flow getting the quirkier part of the lyrics.
When you get over the initial sameness of feeling, you begin to appreciate how layered this composition and the tongue-twisting lyrics (courtesy Amitabh Bhattacharya) actually are.
While it has a decidedly small-town feel that is maintained, it takes a while to figure out why Hrithik’s character Anand and his girlfriend (played by Mrunal Thakur) might not have an happily-ever-after. And once that reason is apparent, you still hope that they end up together.
There’s as much drama as one might expect on an Ajay-Atul track with a story like this. And it hits all the right buttons. But there’s still that unshakeable feeling that increasingly, their music is beginning to sound all too similar.>
