Street Dancer 3D to get re-creation of 25-year-old song

No prizes for guessing who will give the Prabhudheva hit Muqabala (originally composed by AR Rahman) a ‘makeover’
The first song (arguably) to become a national viral craze in the time of no YouTube (and thereby, the internet) has to be Muqabala, originally composed by AR Rahman in 1994 for Kadhalan. That iconic song is now being re-created for Remo D’Souza’s Varun Dhawan-Shraddha Kapoor-starrer Street Dancer 3D by (who else?) Tanishk Bagchi.
The lead pair along with the rest of the cast and crew are currently in Dubai filming dance sequences. While they were going through several takes, Prabhudheva had jaws dropping with his effortless one-take minute-long sequence from his performance of Muqabala. They left everything and cheered him on as he filmed his solo performance.
Producer Bhushan Kumar says the re-creation is a situational one and sees Prabhudheva showing off his dance moves in the film. “[That was the instant] I knew we needed to bring Muqabala back. It is a song that became an instant hit back then and is still played in clubs. The song was shot in Dubai recently and we have Prabhudheva, Varun and Shraddha with our key dancers.”
The film, out January 24, 2020, also features Nora Fatehi, Sonam Bajwa, Shakti Mohan, Dharmesh and several others in pivotal roles.
