Pritam scores music for a Play
By Oojal Kour Dhanjal - July 30, 2018
In what may be Pritam’s first time ever composing music for a play, this is his attempt at Sundays with Chitra & Chaitali, which is on 10th August 2018, premiering at Royal Opera House.
Written & Directed by Isheeta Ganguly, who has also given the music for this along with Pritam, this play is inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s Chitra (from the Mahabarata) and Chaitali, both of whom have a lot in common and are yet alter-egos of each other. It’s a story of their meet-ups over four Sundays, and how these women unfold their 2017 lives with a twist.
The cast includes Shivani Kapur, Chriss Ann Perreira, Barbie Chakrabarty and Abhishek Chauhan. Isheeta Ganguly has collaborated on a number of multimedia Tagore fusion projects including ‘Chiranthan’ with Amitabh Bachchan, ‘Still I Rise’ with Mallika Sarabhai and ‘Riot’ with actress Shabana Azmi, among many other acclaimed projects. She also completed the screenplay adaptation for “Three Women” with Yashraj Films which is in pre-production.
