MUSIC VIDEO REVIEW: Oorka rocks the latest 7Up Madras Gig episode… quite literally!

Tamil rock band Oorka on 7Up Madras Gig

Starting subtly, it builds into a rager

The fifth song to emerge from Sony Music India and Knack Studios’ 7UP Madras Gig is Oorka’s rock anthem Thedadhey. After Veera Thamizhan, Orasaadha, Raati and Kanne Kanne, the song starts subtly and builds into quite the rager.

The ‘searching’ doesn’t just end with the lyrics, the way the music has been arranged, brings about the same feeling. Oorka has Bharath Sankar on Vocals and Keys, JC on Guitars and Backing Vocals, Pradeep Kumar on Bass and Backing Vocals – Pradeep Kumar and Tapass Naresh on Drums and Backing Vocals. What does that tell you? That each band member has a unique voice and that shines through!

Fair warning, though. Most of the video features flashing lights, which might be a trigger to some. That apart, the almost acoustically delivered verses seguing into the guitar-led choruses are a strong highlight of this episode.

A rock ballad of sorts, this one is not so much a visual experience to be had as much as it is a sonic one. The brilliance in that respect, shines through!
