Rating: **1/2 (2.5/5) Bryan Durham
1. Swagpur Ka Chaudhary: Haryanvi rap gets a massive send-up with this wild romper fuelled by the lyrics and voice of Akshay Verma, backed by trippy music by Sameer Uddin. Get high on this one!
2. Kaala Doreya: Neha Bhasin takes a shot at this Punjabi folk song with Raxstar for company. The bass-thump adds to the mood. Glitchy electronic pop with a touch of grime, too!
3. Jive With Me: Abhishek Nailwal takes a ͚swing͛ at this Sameer Uddin composition that͛s several beasts in one. Anvita Dutt͛s verse is simplistic, doing precious little to lift this confused track from the experimental limbo it͛s stuck in. Yahaan bhi, wahaan bhi, it͛s naa ghar ka naa ghaat ka. Was this what they were aiming for?
Kaalakaandi: Composer Shashwat Sachdev gives company to vocalists Vivek Hariharan, Romy & Arun Haridas Kamath on the title track. It͛s a bit loud and the mad lyrics by Anvita Dutt, while relatable, feellike they͛re trying too hard. Music is frenzied and quite ordinary, really.
5. Aa Bhi Ja: Vishal Dadlani leads with backing vocals by Abhishek Nailwal on this Sameer Uddin track with words by Anvita. Here͛s a track that TRIES too hard to be edgy and cool, and it shows
VERDICT: A hangover isn͛t a good thing. Neither is listening to this album in one go. It literally has two tracks that pass muster. The rest could have been done without. Really!
