Linsey Pollak jams with Maati Baani’s Nirali Kartik and Kartik Shah on ‘Tum Jo Mile‘
Maati Baani — Nirali Kartik and Kartik Shah — have brought the varied sounds of the world into our lives, married with traditional Indian folk sounds. Their latest offering, Tum Jo Mile, is a collaboration with the prolific, very innovative instrument-maker Linsey Pollak and is part of their new series Ru Ba Ru.
The couple is known for their originals and their collaborations with cutting-edge musicians from India and all over the world.
Linsey falls into that definition, having created a number of out-of-the-box instruments from everyday objects. In fact, in this video he showcases four — Paper clarinet, Cyclisax, Mr Curly, Stool Flute — wind instruments.
Tum Jo Mile has Nirali on vocal duty, Kartik on a Novation Launchpad, a Red Panda “Particle” granulator pedal, ARTURIA Minilab, Fractal Audio Axe Fx and a Godin Guitars (OFFICIAL) Session guitar, plus he provides backing vocals as well.
The video for the upbeat dance track is shot on what’s most likely someone’s balcony with a vividly, yet sparsely decorated set. The focus never shifts from the music and that’s a good thing.
While talking about Ru Ba Ru, Maati Baani said. “This is a series where we come face to face with a fantastic musician, jam together and create something beautiful and unexpected.”
Mission accomplished? We think so…
