Kanye West declares intent to contest US presidential elections this year

By Bandook - July 5, 2020

It’s just four months to the US presidential elections and rapper Kanye West has just announced his candidacy for the presidency.

How this will come to be is unclear as Ye hasn’t filed any official paperwork to appear on state election ballots yet, say sources, but the deadline to add independent candidates to the ballot hasn’t passed in many states, so Team West still has a prayer.

If he goes through with his #VISION2020 ambitions, Kanye goes up against POTUS Donald Trump and presumptive Democratic candidate and former US Vice President Joe Biden.

Well, he has billionaire wife Kim Kardarshian West and Tesla CEO Elon Musk in his corner. The latter even tweeted outright, “You have my full support.”

That being said, one wonders if he will still find love with Trump, who when asked in 2018 if West could be a future POTUS candidate, had said, “Could very well be.”

This isn’t the first time Kanye has aspired to the presidency. He tweeted “2024” in January last year.

Waiting to see how this develops.
