Jannat Zubair: The tiktok darling of Indian music videos

By Bryan Durham - June 14, 2019

There’s a saying in Hindi: Jo dikhta hai wohi bikta hai (loosely translated as ‘Get noticed, get work’). By that definition, Jannat Zubair is the highest-selling commodity in the music video market. The popular tiktok star is everywhere.

Jannat Zubair: The tiktok darling of Indian music videos

Jannat, who also happens to be a TV star of some note, features in three music videos all released over the past week – with Millind Gaba in Zindagi Di Paudi, with Yawar in Bhaiya G, and with Mr Faisu in Ramji Gulati’s Tere Bin Kive.

What’s equally interesting is that all three tracks were released by different music labels – Zindagi Di Paudi by T-Series, Bhaiya G by Sony Music and Tere Bin Kive by Zee Music Company.

While it may be purely coincidental that the three videos released in quick succession, it is no fluke that the three videos cumulatively account for close to 80 million views (at last count) in one week.

Another important point to note is that all three videos have a North Indian flavour — two are Punjabi and one is Bhojpuri.
