India is top-of-the-mind in official Major Lazer video for Lay Your Head On Me

The official video for the Major Lazer-Marcus Mumford collaboration Lay Your Head On Me is out now and we can’t stop hitting the REPEAT button.

A short look at how we got here…

First came the official lyric video (arty, AF)

And then, the official dance video featuring Kachi Alcazar (who, BTW, has featured in quite a few Major Lazer vids in the past) solo

Then came the official acoustic video starring Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons (minimalistic, B&W, legit #goodvibesonly)

Here’s what you need to know about the official music video, though…

  • Comprising of 177 clips from participants from 28 countries, it’s a fitting Earth Day song
  • Featuring the vision of renowned choreographer Ryan Heffington (LSD, Sia, Florence & The Machine), artists were given a simple request by the video director Filip Nilsson: “Do your best, it doesn’t need to be perfect. Be yourself. We like you as you are.”
  • Artists and creators from the following countries contributed to the official music video: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Cape Verde, China (Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei), France, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Nigeria, Panama, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, the U.A.E., U.K., Ukraine and the U.S (Phew!)
  • It is the first time since the Know No Better lyric video that India has featured so extensively in a Major Lazer video. We believe that the love affair started with Lean On, which was shot in Karjat, on the outskirts of Mumbai in India among other places. Since then, Major Lazer has enjoyed quite the engaged following in the country.
  • Among the Indian names who feature in the video, are India’s youngest Zumba instructor Jerry Pinto, filmmaker and designer Krisha Joshi, dancer/choreographer Tanvi Karekar, actor-dancer Mishti Sinha and drummer Jignesh Patel. A total of 16 Indians feature in the video.
