Filhall becomes the fastest Indian video to reach 200 million views on YouTube
By Bryan Durham - November 23, 2019
In just 14 days, the video for B Praak and Jaani’s Filhall featuring Akshay Kumar, Nupur Sanon and Ammy Virk (and directed by Arvindr Khaira) has crossed 200 million views, becoming the fastest Indian music video to hit that milestone.
Filhall first displaced Badshah’s Paagal as the fastest Indian video to hit 100 million views. Paagal got there in 7.7 days, Filhall took a mere 5.9 days by comparison, becoming the 10th fastest video worldwide to reach that milestone.
Filhall then continued its run to 200 mn views in record time, reaching there in a blinding pace in just 14 days. It’s been four months and Paagal has yet to cross the milestone. Meanwhile Simmba‘s Aankh Marey reached 200 mn views in 25 days while Vaaste got there in a month.
At current estimates, Filhall, which was published to YouTube on November 9, 2019, should reach 300 million views by November 30 (that’s 21 days!). That has it beating Aankh Marey‘s record (42.1 days) by far and leaving behind DJ Snake’s Taki Taki featuring Cardi B, Selena Gomez and Ozuna, in its wake.
Reaching the 200 mn mark, means that Filhall crossed the milestone way ahead of Taki Taki (the track reached there in 15.6 days) and by current estimates, should reach the 300 million mark ahead of the DJ Snake number in 21 days flat (Taki Taki got there in 24.8 days).
In effect, Filhall has become the first Indian single (independent or Bollywood) to play with the big guns (read Latin, US and UK superstar singles) and hold its own confidently.
