Ali Merchant, best known for his stints on TV shows like Kahani Ghar Ghar Kii, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (opposite Hina Khan) and Bigg Boss 4, is a well-known DJ/Producer these days. He has now been immortalised in a series of digitalised and reimagined visuals by artist Swapnil Pawar.
Swapnil, best known for starting off his ‘Just Imagine’ series with Ranveer Singh, by making the actor a literal “piece of art” and the actor reposting it, has found love from a variety of artists after the likes of Ayushmann Khurrana and Sonu Sood shared it.
Indian actors, comedians, public personalities and sportsmen regularly feature in this series, but it has only two rappers (Badshah and Yo Yo Yo Honey Singh, one singer (Sonu Nigam) and one composer (AR Rahman) and two DJs (Aqeel Ali and Ali Merchant).
We reached out to Ali Merchant for comment. He revealed that he’s been friends with the artist for a while now. “I like everything about this picture. The best thing is I couldn’t figure out which picture of mine he’s used. He’s done this so perfectly,” gushes the actor-DJ.
Swapnil reiterated the fact about the two being friends and added, “I’ve witnessed his transition from being an actor to a DJ and saw how comfortable he was with music and how his creations have an extra zing to them.”
Ask Swapnil why he chose Ali to be part of this series and he shoots back, “I wanted to explore a world beyond actors. I chose this particular look for Ali because I felt it would blend perfectly with his personality and the profession he’s in. I was lucky that it suited his face as well.”
Ali notes, “There are legends in this series. I feel privileged to be part of it.”>
