This is the latest tribute to Baba Bulleh Shah’s immortal poetry.
This one comes courtesy DJ Shaan with vocals by famous Punjabi singer Jasbir Jassi.
Released through Armada Music, it will see a global release and that’s great, but…
We have our grouses with the video.
How often do we complain of cultural appropriation? But when we Indians shoot with an outsider’s eye, it becomes deeply apparent.
The video is high on style, but treads the same old roads that many international superstars have, before.
Sonically, the production of the track works. But while Jasbir’s vocals make all the difference, we see very little of him.
