By Bandook - July 11, 2019
Badshah has released his new pop single Paagal and boy, it’s a banger! Sung, written and composed by the King of Swag, it is an all-out rhythmic reggaetón-pop hit with a video that won’t just be the biggest dance anthem of 2019 but quite easily Badshah’s biggest yet. In fact, the song has crossed 60 million views at the time of writing this and in fact, seems on course to break YouTube viewing records for the fastest video to reach 100 views in 24 hours.
The video has been directed by the Miami-based Marlon Peña (who’s also the name behind Daddy Yankee’s Con Calma. Shot at various iconic locations set against the LA skyline, it also stars Playboy‘s 2019 muse Rose Romero, who has also starred alongside global legends Daddy Yankee and J Balvin.
Says Badshah, “I have taken a brave and a very exciting leap with Paagal, that comes from my heart with the intent of pushing language barriers for the Indian Music scene. I can only imagine people from across the globe dance to this international tune with an Indian twist.”
Adds on Shridhar Subramaniam, President India & Middle East, “Badshah is the reigning king of pop. This hooky earworm is accompanied by an equally colourful video directed by the brilliant Marlon Peña and featuring some of the biggest global dance crews. With Paagal, Badshah is laying the foundation for becoming an International star.”
The track is Badshah’s ode to the girl he has his eyes on, where he calls her crazy gorgeous! The music video has been directed by the firebrand team of Puerto Rican director Marlon Peña (the man behind the latest critically acclaimed 1 billion-view superhit Con Calma), choreographer Greg Chapkis (one of the fastest growing names in the dance community globally and has put together a stellar ensemble of some of the best dancers in LA for the Paagal video).>
