Badal takes fresh flight under new label

By Bandook - April 27, 2020

A reinvention of image sees Sahil Badal (aka Badal) take the route back to his “roots” and re-fashioning himself as ‘Safidon Ka Chhora’ (Safidon being the town in Haryana he hails from). The singer-songwriter and rapper’s latest Afsos, released under Tarsame Mittal’s TM Music is the first single released under the fledgling label and takes a lookback “at incidental regrets of life”.

Safidon (in case you were wondering) isn’t the sort of place that’s known to be “a breeding ground for musicians”. And so, the 20-something was left to his own devices, drawn to the works of a range of superstar musicians like Tupac Shakur, Eminem and Justin Beiber among others. Closer home, influences were drawn from Bohemia, who Badal says became “a source of inspiration” for the self-taught musician known for tracks as varied as Vamos (ft Raja Kumari and Dr Zeus), Trip and Puro Puro and his EP, Masterpiece.

Of new expectations from him under TM Music, he says, “I look forward to bringing in more music and melodies to the table. With TMM, I am glad to work with people who understand my vision and contribute to my growth.“

TM Music founder Tarsame Mittal says, “[India] has a host of unexplored talent and with the digital revolution having opened up a wide market, this talent can be brought to the fore. We are excited and proud to kick off this non-film music movement with our first release by an emerging artiste, ‘Badal-Safidon ka Chhora’ from the heartland of Haryana with Afsos.”

Music producer MR Sunny adds, “I am thrilled to be an active part of this venture and unveil talented musicians on their way to the Indian stage. Delighted to start this journey with Badal; an upcoming artiste from Haryana.”
