Amaal Mallik wins the Golden Globes… predictions

Of all the people we spoke to, was the only one to correctly predict the music categories
We usually ask our readers to pick their favourites from the nominations list of award shows. This time around, for the Golden Globes, we decided to do things differently. We reached out to a variety of people, singers, artist managers, label executives, website editors and more to try and gauge who they thought was going to win the night. Only one person got both predicted categories right: Bollywood composer Amaal Mallik.
The public vote, as opposed to the Hollywood Foreign Press (that organises the Globes) jury, was heavily tilted in favour of the crowd favourite in both categories: Black Panther and its scorer Ludwig Goransson. Amaal was the only one to correctly predict that Shallow (A Star Is Born) and Justin Hurwitz (First Man) would win the music categories: Original Song and Original Score.
The music categories at the Globes were tightly contested with Black Panther, Dumplin’, A Private War, Boy Erased, A Star Is Born, A Quiet Place, Isle of Dogs and Mary Poppins Returns in the fray.
Shalmali Kholgade’s pick was Black Panther and All The Stars. Her reason was, “All The Stars is one of the most versatile songs, that has an identity outside of the film and yet is so tailor-made for Wakanda!”
The other popular contender was A Quiet Place (Marco Beltrami) and Shallow (A Star Is Born).
